one-third-scale model for library murals The 1916 work—the most elaborate of the four installations—was completed only in November, because Sargent’s plaster designs for the ceiling ornament had to be enlarged and put in place first. Boston architect Thomas Fox, Sargent’s technical assistant at the Library, supervised this task, using the one-third-scale model that Sargent had sent him the preceding January.
