Study for north end of Sargent Hall From early 1891 until 1895, Sargent worked on the murals at Abbey’s specially constructed 64-foot-long studio in Fairford, Gloucestershire, England, where “a canvas two metres square looks like a postage stamp,” as he told a friend. By January 1892 Sargent had developed compositional studies for the entire north end installation.
