Restoration of ceiling pendentives (continued)

The original 1916 surface on the pendentives could not be safely recovered because of the heavy and tenacious coat of oil paint over it. After preparing the surface, the decorative painters replicated the original appearance by applying multiple tones of paint to produce the desired effect. The surface was then thinly glazed to tone down the sponged effect and give the surface a slightly aged appearance.
