sconces designed by Sargent

Sargent’s lighting changes

During the third mural installation campaign of 1916, Sargent removed six of the eight McKim light fixtures and replaced them with new bronze sconces of his own design. The rope-patterned sconces included five small, frosted light bulbs clustered at the bottom of each fixture.
