Israel and the Law Thirteen years passed before Sargent sent another portion of his murals to Boston. In the meantime, he continued to develop and exhibit his ideas in London, showing the cartoons for Israel and the Law at the Royal Academy in 1909 and The Fall of Gog and Magog in 1911. Israel and the Law is the more inventive composition. English critics praised its “spacious, grandiose manner which is only possible to artists of the first rank.”
