Sargent letter, 1894 Sargent exhibited his lunette Israelites Oppressed and his Pagan Gods vault paintings in London at the Royal Academy in the spring of 1894, before their transport to Boston. Sargent wrote the Royal Academy to emphasize the importance of hanging these compositions together, well above eye level, to approximate their intended positioning in the Library.
