Reproduction of Frieze of Prophets, McClain High School The timing of the completion of Triumph of Religion’s first phase in 1895 could not have been more fortuitous. An art publishing industry founded on newly available methods of mass reproduction waited in readiness, along with new initiatives in public and religious education that created ready markets for art and illustration. From kindergarten through college, the technology of halftone visual reproduction, perfected in 1888, transformed possibilities for the use of illustration in education.
