Study for the North and Side Walls, Sargent Hall On his trips to Egypt, Greece, and Turkey, Sargent explored not only ancient art in situ, but also native dress and architecture. Although the artist made a number of oil studies of men in ethnic costume in preparation for the mural cycle, the prophets as he depicted them in the Library murals do not have particularly Middle Eastern features.
